The 1870 census documents that he and his wife were the parents of these living children: George (1856), James (1862), Mary Elizabeth (1863), Francis (1867), Anna (1866), Elmer (1870). Other records available on assert that the child Elmer died in 1873, and that a baby Dora, lived from Sep. 7, 1873 to Nov 28, 1874. Twins Delmer and Della were born in McDonough County Feb 4, 1876. Della died July 15, 1876.

Sometime after 1876, Theodore and Nancy Montee relocated to Kansas, joining some of his brothers and other neighbors from Bethel County.

Additional biographical information comes from census records, vital statistics, and marriage records from and the Illinois Statewide Marriage Index.  The burial is also documented by Duane Lester's, "Rural Cemeteries of McDonough County, Illinois, Volume II, Bethel-Industry."
